6046, What can I expect?
Posted by 740 turbo brick, Jun-23-09 11:42 PM
Im getting some work done to my car and wondering what kind of power/track times I can expect when Im done.

I have a full CAI, MPx 60mm TB, OBX header, Tsudo SRS 2.5" Catback, 30% UDP, MSD coil, F1 clutch, and in a week or so I will have a Ported and Polished head with Crower stage 2 camshafts installed. Im quite excited to get the last parts installed, but I dont want to get ahead of myself and think my car will break 14s if Ill be lucky to run a 15.5 or something. Any idea what the car will feel like?

Well.......I don't want to be the bubble buster.....but, You aren't going to see 14's. Depending on a lot of things, you will probably not see 15's.

As I've said many times before, the biggest problem is that damn stock ECU. It will dog you down. Now, if you were to put in say MSnS or the AFX/ECU then you (IMO) CAN be able to hit 14's.

This thread will give you an idea of what you can do;

Don't get too hung up on the 10.5 comp. While helpful, I don't believe it is necessary for 14's. The biggie is changing the spark and fuel.

Well that is a little disheartening, but thats why I asked. Being my car is a 95, I cant get the AF/X ECU, would my best bet be to use megasquirt? Would I have to completely tune everything myself?

Have you been to the track much since the last time you posted in this section? You have a lot of time to drop just from gaining track experience. May not happen the next time you go out but in time I think you should be able to get into the 15's.

I hear that they have all the years listed now. Don't know anyone that has one yet......

I just checked and it says all the years, but when you click on one listed it will say fits only 97 next to it, and they dont look like 95-96 ECUs.

How much of a benefit would an S-AFC be? I know its just tricking the computer to changing the air/fuel, but how much could I gain from it?

You can gain from it. I gained around 3-5 whp overall and gained on the whole curve as well.
