5079, First time out to the track, meh Posted by BlackMagic, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Yea it was ok, only got in 4 runs heres the the result.
First Run - Ran at 15psi because I wanted to just make sure I could handle it before I upped the boost, bogged the launch, wheel hop, etc, I need to install my suspension hopefully that will help that some. anyways yea here was the times
r/t: .170 60': 2.491 330: 6.386 1/8: 9.328 mph: 85.65 1000: 11.810 1/4: 13.910 mph: 108.00
not too bad, i mean definately not good but first time out with the car ever so I was ok with it. Trap speed was pretty good. If I could just lower that 60' to a 2.0 I'd be golden.
Second run I pumped in some 104octaine and turned the boost up to 20psi, top of second gear I lost all power and coasted half the track, went back in popped the hood looked around and didn't see anything, so I turned the boost way down thinking maybe I had overdone it. So I went for a run again, same thing, couldn't go past 4000rpm, coasted through went back to the pits to check it out, then I notice the boost source for the portfueler blew off, that explains it. So I go out for my fourth run
run 4, I forgot to turn my boost up to 20 so I was back at 15, launch was better but still not too good, lots of hop, car started to slightly break up in high rpms, I think because the spark plugs have been in since I put the motor in and then those last two runs of being reallly lean probably didn't help but anyways:
r/t: .233 60': 2.376 330: 6.268 1/8: 9.288 mph: 83.87 1000: 11.806 1/4: 13.948 mph: 105.93
and that was the last run I got in, this was at Maryland International Raceway btw.
So basically I only got 2 runs in which is sort of a drag but oh well. When I up the boost to 20psi and get that 60' time down, I hope i'll be able to get low 13s
oh yea then the car overheated on the way home

not bad at all for first time to track...I sure hope to break 13's my first time there. you don't even need to get a 2.0 60', I'd be just happy dropping down to the 2.1-2.2 range.
good job :thumbsup

Get the 60' at 2.0 BEFORE upping the boost :thumbsup

for wheel hop you should just get polyurethane mounts for the side mounts and the rear, and then put the bobble strut frount mount from howell automotive, which is just all metal. i dont have wheel hop no matter what tires im on but do get a shit load of vibrations in the car if you can live with turning your radio up while driving!! ;-)

Yep that's exactly what I'm planning on getting! And yea I usually don't even listen to the radio, I'm too busy listening to all the weird noises the car makes.

Congrats bro! Can't wait to hit the track with yah....after my rebuild of course. You, Paul, and myself are going to have to have track time wars this summer.
