my friend just bought a stock 00 trans am and called me out this weekend. im hearing all week that he is gonna smoke me i was wondering what you guys think or if any one who has a setup like mine has raced ne ls1's let me kno what u think will happen we are both pretty good drivers so its up to the cars.

That Jimmy guy is on this board so you should ask him. I think I've heard only 10psi can hang with a stock LS1, don't quote me on that. What psi is it running?

its on 12lbs now and i get better tires tomarro so not as much peelin out i had talked to jimmy but he told me to ask around cuz i dont think that he raced one

well you have just about 300hp, but you are FWD, and the trans is RWD, i have no idea how much hp they have, but i hope you're running slicks.

^^^they usually put down over 300 at the wheels

Heres some info for you....

2000 Trans Am (taken from some Motortrends tests)

HP = 305
TQ = 320
Motor = 5.7 L (346 cubic inch) OHV LS-1 V8 (56.5 Hp/liter)
Tranny = 6 speed Borg-Warner manual or a 4 speed auto
Time = High 13's stock

you goin from a roll or from a dig? from a roll you should definately be able to keep up no problem, as long as his car is mostly stock, from a dig i dunno, hope you don't get too much wheel spin. A person here had a custom turbo setup on a stock motor with 5psi and he kept up with one from a dig though, so hey it's possible

Practice your launch when you get new tires, but don't be too hard on the transmission cause they arn't known for they strength

we are goin from a 40 roll and he is bone stock so we will see. i just got the tires on and they stick great

From a roll, you should have no problem. From a stop, he's gonna hand it to you, especially if he's got an automatic.

so the trans am is 305 bhp? meaning like 260-270 to the wheels? well, you have him on HP since your car puts down almost 300 to the wheels. from a roll, you will win, but like they said from a stop, he's gonna have the traction, unless you get slicks.

Make sure that he's not going to be using nitrous, LS1's are really tough, and can handle very heavy shots even stock setups.

most LS1's put down 300-315whp stock and about the same wtq....on the highway LS1 pulls like a MOFO....

well we did it and i got him by a car we went from a 40 roll and it was close but i inched away slowly i will be posting the video soon thanks for the info guys

He'll probably take you. I'm cant remember what rears come stock in those, 273's i think. You might have a chance with a good launch. And Does he know how to drive it is the question, Same with you seeing that you only bought that not to long ago.

I think from a roll, weight played a huge factor.
