4764, find your 1/4 time now! Posted by undisputed, Jun-03-05 06:50 PM
ok a little deceiving but I found this and I was wondering how accurate it was? http://www.fantasycars.com/derek/quartmile.html
it could possibly find out some results?

it's not very accurate at all, things like that are always "best case scenario" which never happens in real life, they take into count the traction problems we have, gear ratios, torque, or anything. It doesn't even say which to plug in, crank horsepower or wheel horsepower. I mean you can have fun with it, but it's not going to tell you anything usefull, just take it to the real track and see what you can do

here is the formula used:
1/4 mile = (weight / (hp - (hp * .17)))^(.333) * 5.825
No one probably cares but i was bored this morning...

It's way off. It told me that my 3400 lb cougar with 350 hp only runs a 13.21. I ran a 12.13, but run 12.3-4's consistently. According to that, I need 450 hp to crank out a 12.15.
**EDIT** It also said that if I weighed in at 3200, I'd need 213hp to run a 15.27. I really don't think my 420a produced 213 to the wheels, but maybe it weighed less :shrug

I figured as much. I was just wondering if it was close at all. Guess not, thanks all.

2730lbs = 131hp
17.0 @ 79mph on an auto
that seems like a bit much no?
all i have is the cold air, udp, 55mmtb, erts high flow, and the apex 2.5

deff not close, when i plug in the weight of the car with me in it - 3300lbs, it takes 310 hp to get my 1/4 time of 13.6 ...now being that the car came stock with 260hp i highly doubt i gained 50hp from minor bolts ons and the tune i have...

This is by far one of the worst bench racing threads I have ever seen. Complete with lame calculator!

2750 + 310whp = 12.8.... not bad?
