I've relocated the battery in the civic to the hatch. It is an optima sealed battery so im wondering, those of you who have done this, do i need a battery tie down or an actual sealed battery box. Im thinking just a tie down because the optima is sealed. Any other battery rules. Im going to Englishtown NJ, but i was wondering if any one else has run into any problems with tech inspections and batteries. Thanks, Evan

i think if you relocate it to the rear you must have a sealed and VENTED batt box, and possibly an external power shut off

It depends on how strick they are. If they're a strict NHRA track, it needs to have the shut off switch that's clearly labeled on the rear of the vehicle, in a box that's just big enough to hold the batter, battery needs to be bolted down inside the box, box needs to be bolted down, and the lid needs to be bolted closed.

i work at rock falls raceway... and all i look for is that it is held down tightly (on sport compact cars). most race tracks are like that, we just get more strict when the ETs get lower (sport compacts are generally not fast enough to worry about that).

my battery(optima yellow top) in my avenger is in the trunk in a box. they were fine with the plastic box i used. its bolted through the floor so it don't move and a tie down holds the lid on. the only thing i was told is i need a shut off switch on my bumper before i can run again.
