What is the ideal rpm range to let off the clutch at the launch? Also what is the ideal time to shift to 2nd and to 3rd? First time at the dragway I was in the mid-16's. I think I let off too high and shifted too high. I shifted at red-line both times. I would like to get down to a 15.9 before doing any more mods.

that is all setup specific, there is no way to tell you. you have to experiment for yourself and see which methods yeild the best results.

Let's see, I used to launch my 99 at around 4500 on the stutterbox, and shift at 6800 with the soft limiter set at 7200 so I didn't have to lift. Then again, I had $19k into my car and was running around 23 pounds of boost for ~370 whp. Does that help any? Don't worry about shift points, worry about launching. A good 60' time OWNS fast shifting when it comes to ET.

You really have to just listen to the engine and feel how it is running, if the RPMs are going up but it feels like the power isn't it is probably time to shift.
