4070, Think my drag wheels are too large?

I made about five runs at the track yesterday. I can't launch this car for shit. My best 60 was 2.3, my best 1/4 time was 14.1 and my best trap speed was 100 mph. If I launch at 5500 the tires would break loose and the car would go without bogging, anything below 5500 rpm the car would bog out once the tires grabbed. The tires are huge, I don't know how big exactly. But they just barely fit in the wheel well. They stick out about 1.5 inches from the fender, yeah they are big. I think I'm going to get some good drag radials for my rims and try those at the track. So do you guys think my tires are too big? And what are some good drag radials? I was looking at the BF Goodrich GeForce ones.

Yeah. My Dis2 worked for a big 3 months and then took a shit. It was blowing fire out my intake. So I'm sending it in, I am almost positive it's not working right, Not a setting or a bad wire.

I don't know how to measure them. They are M&H Racemaster tires, basically cheater slicks. They are the same wheels / tires I used on my 350z and ran a 1.9 60, 13.0 1/4. I think they are too large for the car to turn when I don't have any boost built.

Is it true you can build boost at the line with the stutter box on? I have heard people say that you can, but I never tried it. Does not make since to me, but mabye it works. I might have to wait for MSD to send my Dis2 back.

Yes you can build boost with the studderbox. When I had my Crane hooked up, I could build about 5psi with the box set at 5K rpm's. I never used it at the track though(street tires), but it sure helped with big smokey burnouts. As for the G-force drags.....save your money. I had those on my car and did not like them one bit. My Azenis' hook just as good and the BFG's only lasted 1600 miles! I'd reccomend either smaller slicks or Nitto drags.

What about the BFG Drags? They look like on ones that come on the srt-4, but I'm not sure.

Why be a pansy? Get some 24x8x14 Mickey Thompsons, or better, some 26x10x15's. ET Drags all the way :-)

What wheel will a 24x8x14 slick fit on?

Heh, because I AM a pansy.

These tires are working great, mabye even a little too good. I think my car is not making enough torque to launch well. Mabye that has to do with the overall diameter is huge. The tires clear the bolt on the upper control arm by about 4 mm, heh. They are huge. Mabye I will wait to see how I can do with the stutter box. In the meantime any other ideas?

Can anyone offer me ideas for slicks? it's time for mine, and i don't want to start another thread about slicks, just curious as to what everyone has/how they found them.

I'll get back to you once I figure out my problem. heh. Mabye if I let a little pressure out so the tire can flex more. I think ill wait until I get the msd back in, try to make a little more power at the line with the stutter box and low psi in the tires.

I do like these tires on the Z, they are perfect. M&H roadmaster 'cheater slicks' with tubes.
