3845, 14.4 again
Posted by taloniized, Jan-17-04 07:51 PM
i just can't get a faster time than 14.4 boosting at 10psi. I always thought to myself it's the arizona desert, but tonight was a nice chilly day and i still ran a 14.4

I see your trap speed went up....what was your 60'? With 102mph trap speeds, the car could break high 13's with a 2.0-2.2 60'. But I know how difficult that is with street tires.....after all I ran 13.66@115mph!!! At least you bring yours to the track :thumbsup

I think his 60' was 2.5

My previous 14sec run was 14.420

R/T - 1.263
60' - 2.530
330 - 6.498
1/8 - 9.616
MPH - 80.183
1000 - 12.176
1/4 - 14.465
MPH - 102.179

My goal right now is just to hit 13's with street tires!!!

work on your launch man.. you should be pulling 2.2 60ft's if your good. and just that alone will push your car into the 13's.

work on the launch man.

he had like a 2.2 60 ft and capped out with a very low 16. Not bad for his first time at the track and a CAI

Posted by taloniized, Jan-20-04 10:54 AM
The next time we go, I'm going to launch it a different way. I might embarass myself, but it's worth a shot.

My 60 foot was 2.49 acutally, did a 16.1 @ 86.241 (on crappy house brand tires on my 14" rims). Yeah with just a CAI I was pretty happy since it was my first time ever.

Ant the track was REALLY sticky. I had crazy wheel hop - so bad that my clip-on air vent fresheners were in the trunk after the run. Also the plugs that cover the bolts on the dead pedal were floating around in my car that I found the next day.

I need to work on my launch too, I do not want to break CV shafts. Next I think will be some ES motor mount inserts.

I thought Paul's launch was good, although soundwise it sounded like he bogged it.

EDIT: My R/T was .722 as well, I think if you worked on that as well it will help you Paul.

Dave come over one weekend and we can fill your mounts solid. Brian, Paul and I are all running solid mounts. I have little to no wheel hop when i launch. I just need to get my 60' times below 2.8 :o

i got a 2.232 60' and all i did was dump the clutch at 4k and floor it... with kuhmo 711's and 31.5psi in the tires... (the first run i tried this i smoked the tires through first and second but i guess they warmed up and on the second run it kinda bogged down in first after the tires caught traction)

For every tenth you take off your 60ft time, you normally take off 2 tenths in your end 1/4 time. You def have a mid/high 13 sec car, just need to get the 60 down, and shift quick. Launching these cars with a 5spd and turbo is just really, really difficult, and takes LOTS of practice to get good at it..Lowest 60ft I have ever pulled has been a 2.3 I've trapped at over 101 mph,so its def a high 13 sec car.

Can you up the boost at the track with race gas?

I'm still on stock fuel injectors. 440cc fuel injectors coming soon when i feel like working on my car again. After the rebuild, i feel pooped out. I don't feel like working on the car for awhile.

just takes practice. I've got mine down to 2.2 but 2.35 on average.

Launching a fwd is a pita. It'll take a lot of track time. Launching a turbo fwd is even worse. Keep hitting the tracks and you'll get a feel for it. Still a respectable 1/4.

I can't believe I just now found this thread. I guess since I have yet to race (stupid windshield x( ) I don't come here that often. :shrug

You'll get there Paul. Once I get my windshield issue resolved, I'll be needing to get in a lot of track time between now and the shootout, so let me know if you want to start setting practice sessions. Maybe they'll always put you up against me or vice versa and we never have to worry about looking that bad. :P

Haha. You wanna go from a roll man? LOL. Well I'm going to get a couple things fixed and then I'm all about getting out and practicing. I'll do drag racing 2 weekends and autoX the other 2. It's gonna be awesome!

We should get the AZ2GNT crew together on some nights out from the city and practice launching/racing in an empty lot or desolate street.

Then we can all get tickets! I call dibs on Waste of a Finite Resource!

ARS 28-702.01:
If the maximum speed limit on a public highway in this state is fifty-five miles per hour, a person shall not drive a motor vehicle at a speed in excess of fifty-five miles per hour on that highway. If the speed at which the person is alleged to have driven as provided in section 28-707, subsection A or the speed at which the court finds the person drove is sixty-five miles per hour or less, the offense is designated as the waste of a finite resource and is a civil traffic violation subject to subsection B of this section.

ARS 28-708:
A person shall not drive a vehicle or participate in any manner in a race, speed competition or contest, drag race or acceleration contest, test of physical endurance or exhibition of speed or acceleration or for the purpose of making a speed record on a street or highway.

ARS 28-701:
A person shall not drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the circumstances, conditions and actual and potential hazards then existing. A person shall control the speed of a vehicle as necessary to avoid colliding with any object, person, vehicle or other conveyance on, entering or adjacent to the highway in compliance with legal requirements and the duty of all persons to exercise reasonable care for the protection of others.

Which one you want Dave? LOL :P

www.desertdiamonds.org has a section with the Arizona Statutes in it. Just for times like this. I'm sure you could do a search on Google for yourlocal traffic codes and find something similar. ;)

And how are we going to know what is a GOOD launch versus what is a BAD launch. It's 15 bucks at the track with a real tree and real numbers and come on REAL timeslips. I'll pass on this one Dave. :thumbsup
