Ok,
I know i'm a 4g63 but I feel like this happened in my 2gnt too, but now its worse on this car. When i'm doing a 1/4mile, and i'm shifting high, i miss 3rd all the time, as in the shifter won't lock it into gear. This is killing my times, as people are blowing by me as I screw around in neutral trying to finesse the shifter into 3rd. Is this from the symborski? I feel like i'm forcing it in to third and i can't do it smoothly....any suggestions?

P.S. i'm shifting at around 7k from 2-3...

Join the club. I still grandma shift into third. When I first got my car it wasn't a problem but all it took was one time to miss third, rev to fuel cut, and grind gears...now I just can't do it. I don't know if it's in my head or if the gear box is just gay but I can't shift fast into third without missing it. Let me know if you find out a technique.

EDIT: BTW is your problem that you always seem to jam the shifter into the peg between first and third? That's my problem. I always seem to nail the shifter right in the space between those two gears.

I have no problems with the 2-3 shift at 7K rpms. You do have a 4g63, and sometimes they don't like going into gear. It could be a synchro going bad on you.

yeha I was worried about the syncro deal...no it feels like i'm in between the gate for 3rd, and the "gate" is "closed"...its obnoxious...still working on a solution....synchro replacement is not an option, is it? I heard you just have to get a whole new tranny...

I just remembered, try some BG synchroshift

alot of 4g63 owners I know swear by it, it might help without you needed to take your tranny apart
