3411, New times!

Made it back to the track today. Best run:

R/T----------.719 (had a .552 and .544 on other runs)
60'---------1.841 (personal best, still babying the clutch)
1/8---------8.497
1/8 mph----82.79
1/4--------13.306 (car's best)
1/4 mph---103.15 (car's best)

Mods are 3" turbo-back, air filter, boost controller (set to hold at 20psi),and an e-manage (tuned to 11.7:1 afr). The run was made on pump gas. I'm pretty happy with it, especially with only $1200 in mods. :7

Next up - race gas and 12's. :+

Nice run Greg! I drove my buddies EVO at our track last weekend. I have been doing all the modding on his car for him so far. I've installed the RMR intake, Hallman boost controller(19psi daily/20.5psi track), Forge recirculating BOV, DIY ground wires, and a JIC cat-back. The best I could muster was a 13.35@104.67mph w/ a 1.88 60'. I was having a hard time launching that thing.....much more complicated than my buddies 95 Tsi. Good luck with the 12's!!! :thumbsup

Sorry Mark, you're too hairy for my tastes. :wary The run was in my Evo, as of today the Talon is gone.

Brad , I won't be in Akron anytime soon that I know of. I usually only make it back up there once a year. I ran the numbers through some HP calculators and according to them I'm putting down somewhere between 285-310 whp. That's a ~40 to ~50 HP increase with just bolt-ons. Next month I'm taking it to a road course to beat up on some Vettes, Porsches, and BMW's. :+

BTW, that run was against a 00 or 01 Camaro SS. It looked stock, but I couldn't tell for sure without turning around - he was that far back. :thumbsup

When you say WHP, are you referring to the front wheels or on an AWD dyno?
3422, RE: New times!

I'm referring to the approximate hp needed to get a 3400lb car down the 1/4 mile in 13.3 seconds. Also comparing similar mods to other Evo's that have been dyno'd (AWD). There is an AWD dyno being put in about 90 miles from me. When it's ready I'll go down and make some pulls. I would expect around 300 on pump and 330-340 on race.

300 AWHP would net you much better times than 13.3's @ 103mph. For reference, a Subaru STI makes 250 awhp, and they can click off high 12's bone stock @ 105mph. I saw a WRX that dynoed 296 awhp and with a shitty launch he ran 12.8 @ 110mph. If I'm not mistaken, most Evo's make 230ish at all four wheels. Anyhow, congrats on the good times. Get modding that beast }(

I'm pretty much done modding. My goal wasn't to make it a 1/4 car, I want to do more auto-x and road course stuff. Easier on the drivetrain and more fun IMO.

I hear ya, I'm just a diehard street/drag racer at heart. I'd like to try my hand a road racing, hell that's what this Plymouth was built for, I just dont know how to go about doing it :7

You have an SRT, what would you want with an Evo?

As a side note, I'm going to a track day at Putnam Park road course in Indiana the beginning of October. Do a search for NASA or HPDE (sorry I don't have links) both do performance driving schools/track days all over the country pretty regularly. Or, find the website of your nearest road course and check out their schedule. All you need is a safe car and a helmet. The driving school/track days are ususally pretty expensive - mine is $275 for 2 days - but auto-x is really cheap ($20-30) and a lot of fun too. Check out the solo 2 section of SCCA's website for regions and events.

i ran my friends evo (bone stock ) in the 1/8 and he ran a 9.2 and i ran a 9.5

those mods make a big difference

9.5 with a big ass sub enclosure 2 12's and a bunch of other random heavy shit in the back

9.2 in the 1/8th is pretty slow for an Evo. That would be around a 14.3 1/4 or so. The car is really hard to launch though. It takes a lot of practice and the clutch doesn't put up with too much experimentation. I'm installing a braided stainless clutch line and removing the clutch restrictor before I hit the track again. With those 2 mods, race gas, and a test pipe, I'm really hoping for something close to mid 12's.
