I want to get a baseline measurement to compare my performance to after I do my rebuild. So I'm thinking about taking the Big Ass Slow Eagle to the track for some legal racing. I figure a couple of runs down the 1/4 should be good to see what's up.

My mods before: hacked airbox w/ K&N, MagnaFlow rear section
My questions:

1) On the less than precision tach in the dash, should I shift closer to the 6000 or 6500 mark? I believe peak HP stock is around 6300rpm.

2) When I shift, should I leave the gas down and just work the clutch? I do this time to time to freak people out on the street, but is it practical to keep the revs up at the track? Will I bounce off the rev limiter or fuck with fuel cut that high up when I'm really going for it?

I'm pretty sure I know how to launch, but if my technique's flawed, I'd be open for advice. This is how WE do it:

No burn out - stage around 3000rpm - when the light turns, let out clutch (avoiding spin/hop) and nail the gas - leave gas at WOT and just shift at 6000rpm.

I know this is a bit long, but I'm gonna end up next to some punk in an Si with a swap and "naws" and will probably "lose," but I want to know I did it right and, like I said, I want to see some gains after rebuild and need a baseline.

Just an everyday thang! That's the right idea. I think I'll just hit the track with no concern for tomorrow. After all, I'll be parking it and tearing her down the next night anyways. :thumbsup

Don't leave your foot on the gas while shifting. That is fuel cut that you hit at redline in this car, not a rev limiter. Just make quick persice (SP?) shifts.
