2685, New track time with CAI and 2.5" pacesetter. Something isn't right. Posted by Mystic511, Apr-15-03 08:40 PM
My 60' time went from an average of 2.6+ to around a 2.45, but it seems my trap speeds are actually worse now with E.T.'s averaging better then the last time, but just barely beating the best E.T. i held before.
Put on Injen CAI extension pipe, and 97goslow's 2.5" pacesetter. Went back to the track and this was my best run of the night:
R/T:--0.791 60':--2.420 330:--6.765 1/8:--10.383 MPH:--67.54 990:--13.437 1/4:--16.163 MPH:--85.20
The weird part is, it's not much better then my previous run without the CAI and exhaust (only short ram and gst muffler). Here's the breakdown of last time:
R/T:--1.032 60':--2.476 330:--6.854 1/8:--10.450 MPH:--68.09 990:--13.473 1/4:--16.171 MPH:--85.77
My 60' time got better, but my trap speed went down. I don't understand. Any number crunchers/theorists want to help me figure out what could be wrong?
It seems like maybe my low end is suffering from the 2.5" catback, but i figure the CAI would be giving the engine more air to work with. Maybe a dirty filter? Bad clutch? I thought the CAI and catback would at least shave off a tenth or so in my 1/4 time, especially since my 60' time was consistenly better which in itself should lower my 1/4 time.
I spent the entire drive back trying to figure out what could be wrong. I don't understand why and it's eating at me. I'm depressed, because I was on a mission to break into the 15's. x(

Better 60' times = lower trap speeds and better ETs. That's how it works. The quicker you get it out of the hole, the less you're spinning tire. You're covering more ground rather than just acellerating, which means you'll be moving slower at the traps, but you'll have gotten there faster.
Get those 60's down and you'll be in the 15's easy.
