2310, 1/4 mile time question Posted by NCHRGE, Feb-03-03 11:30 PM
Hey guys and gals I used to be on this board about a year ago but then I got transfered to Boston with my job and so I haven't been on in awhile.(forgot my username) My question is last time I went to the track it was about 90+ degrees at midnight with about 70% humidity. The track I am sure was probably hotter than shiznat. I was only able to pull a 16.3 with a trap of 86.4. My mods are CAI/muffler/gutted cat/plugs wires. Is the reason i could only pull a 16.3 the heat????humidity???? Help a brother out please.
Freezing my ass off in Beantown

I'd say that it was most likely the heat. The day that I ran my best 1/8th mile time it was like 35 degrees outside. Most cars on this board with your mods run high 15's I believe, so it was most likely the heat, I'd have to see your slip for your 60ft times and such to let you know for sure though.

thanks bro for the help.. It just discourages me to see guys running 15.9's with the same mods. wanna build an all nitrous motor but not to convinced about my numbers.

You could hit 15s with those mods. The temperature does play a factor. What kind of 60' times were you getting? The launch plays an even bigger factor :)
Well, since you're now in the Boston area, it's time for you to go to yahoogroups.com and sign up to the new england dsm mailing list. And, I guess I'll see you at Epping this year, just look for the red RS running faster than it should ;)

I'll jump in on this and ask what times you guys think I could run
Mods: AEM Cold Air Intake A'pexI N1 full catback Eibach Pro-kits Weight reduction (no back seats or spare/jack and if I got a scheduled race I take out the passenger seat too)
problem is I'm an auto so what times would an auto be looking at? I'm getting the final drive mod soon so what times could I be expecting with that?

i wouldnt agree witht that... there are still only a handful of guys in the 15s NA... its growing.. but still.. most are in the 16s.
all it takes is practice. you can have all the mods in the world, but it aint easy launching.

hummm makes me wounder what I would run? well I hung with a 1g gst up till about high end third gear. I seen him run at the tack when I was their he ran a low 15 like a 15.1, my mods are obx 4-1 header, obx muffler, no cat, no A/C , no power steering , ram/cold air intake, bosh +4 plugs and 8.5mm wires, all so got a short shifter and took out my tire and jack, I think my 2000gt 17' rims are very like 20lbs each but they look tuff:thumbsup .... ?

what did u guys run stock?
my first 2 days at the track i ran 3 times all with the shitty stock 14s, full interior, 1/2 tank gas, and a bumpy ride above 80mph
1. fucked up launch (first run EVER for me) r/t...1.502 60....3.170 1/4...17.289 mph...84.19
2. Next week did better but got bad launch around 2500 rpms R/t...675 60....2.629 GRR 1/4...16.899 mph...83.27
3. Next run worse r/t but better launch around 3200 rpms R/t....968 60....2.562 1/4...16.809 mph...83.51 then a 16.899 w/ a .675 r/t and a 2.629 60 then a 16.809
my goals before i start modding is to be able to beat my friends v6 auto camaro..he ran a 16.5.
