2217, First time at track with the Talon
Posted by MY1997TALON, Jan-05-03 02:30 PM
I have a 1997 Talon ESI 5 speed, Apexi N1 exhaust, and AEM cold air. 30000 miles and the original tires. Here are my 3 runs. Half tank gas

2.456 60 Ft

10.615@67.03 8th

16.437@ 84.82

2.925 60Ft.

11.462@65.99 8th

17.353@ 84.11

2.605 60 Ft.

11.237@ 63.70 8th

17.289@82.61

I know the last two runs can get better, but can the first run of 16.437@84.82 get better? And if so how?

Thanks

Yes it can. Your 60' of 2.45 sec for that first run shows you still need to work on your launch (as would be expected since it was your first time at the track :) ) The 60' times for the other runs (sorry, no offence meant) are really really really bad (I am being VERY nice when I say this, I could have worded it FAR more harshly).

Your 60' times are varying by quite a bit. This shows you are launching inconsistantly, probably because you are dumping the clutch on the launch and spinning the tires like crazy. Keep working on the launch, get the 60' times lower, and work on keeping the wheelspin down and you should be able to take at least 2/10ths off of your 1/4 mile time.

work on your 60' if you get that down to a 2.2 or so you will be close to the 15s.

Did you adjust your pressure in your tires at all??

Your in houston right?? You should come to the track this friday, i will be there in a black spec-v.

Oh yeah practice makes perfect the more you go the better you get

Too many people on Friday, besides have to work. I might be there Sunday cuz I dont have to work. Plus alot less people there on Sunday. Im trying to sell my intake and exhaust so ill probaly be stock pretty soon. I never ran my car when it was stock so in kinda wondering what it will run stock. Any Idea?

Anyway, How should I launch?

Thanks

Do a search of this section or the "things we've seen before" section, it's in one of those two.

I dunno what it'll do stock. My car ran a 10.0 in the 1/8th stock. It runs a 15.6 with just a cone filter and bored throttle body.

Fridays at HRP are great, if you get there early. If you show up at 6, you can hot lap the place as many times as your car can handle until about 7:30-8 when it starts getting crowded.
