2181, First time at Drag Strip
Posted by mitifto, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Today was the first time I took my Turbo powered RS to the drags. I had so many problems. I was only running 4psi on the turbo but I had wheel hop, wheel spin and I think I felt the clutch slip but even with all that crap happening I did 15.9 and beat a civic and a crx. Now I just need a boost controller and wheels.

$20 energy suspension motor mount inserts will help you out a LOT.

You should be 15.5's or better with you current setup and a good launch. Try coming off the clutch slowly so the power doesn't all come on at once and you start spinning and hopping.

only 4psi you should run low 15's like 15.2 or around their after you get it set try it at 14psior so you should be able to do it on stock insides but up grade you fuel that is a most . you should befaster then a stock eclipse with after market kit cuz even the turbo it self should be bigger then stock eclipse well thats what I thought

dont go running more then 10 PSI unless you rebuilt the bottom end.

That time is pretty slow, but it was your first time so dont worry too much about it. Better tires and better launch will cure those problems, you should be at least in the high 14s low 15s with your set up (depending on your boost setting and what turbo set up you have)

Try lowering your tire pressure, and make sure your in the "groove" when you line up. Meaning line up in the rubber of the person that went before you. Itll be darker colored and not shiny. My best is 15.93 @ 96 mph (2.2 60')in the 'clipse and 13.6 @ 98 in the other car..
