1895, First time ever at track - How'd I do? Posted by EclipzeGamer, Sep-21-02 04:20 PM
First time running at the track today in Fontana at California Speedway. My best run was my very first. I'll post the slip a little later after I scan it in
R/T 1.446 60' 2.489 330 6.968 1/8 10.656 MPH 66.95 1000 13.855 1/4 16.537 MPH 84.00
Keep in mind that was my first track run ever. None of my other runs came anywhere near this good, my next best being a 16.892 1/4 at 83.23 mph and a 60' of 2.663.
Considering my only real mods are a drilled airbox, gs-t muffler, and an oil cooler, was my best time around what it should be, or can I expect better with a good launch? I was slipped the clutch at about 3k with just a tiny bark of the tires that run. Most of my other 60' were in the 2.6 range. Any launch techniqes that might help lower my 60' time?

Sounds like a decent run. Just practice launching and hit some 2.2s or even a 2.0 and you may hit 15's if you are lucky and have good grippy tires.

Jaeson, other then the grandpa reaction time (j/kin man :) )not bad at all. If I remember correctly the best run at the last meet at fontana was made by steve(downazzdsm) at 16.2. So your not that far off.

Yeah Fontana is kinda weird. Very grippy off the line. I tried lauching pretty hard on one pass and ended up with wheel hop like crazy. Gave the rest of the 2gnt's in the stands an idea of what not to do..lol Couldn't get a better time then 17.1x. First pass was like and 18.7x or so but I had a passenger on that run. I also kept my 18's on when I should have switched back to the stock 16's. Ah well I know I suck at draggin. Bummer that I missed the last event of the summer season. Hopefully they'll have another set of dates here fairly soon so we can all make it out there again. Congrats to Jen too, thats a nice RT
