1891, GS vs. Elantra Posted by DSMeclipseGS, Sep-19-02 11:46 AM
How would I do???
info from cars.com
Me: 1998 Mitsubishi GS AUTOMATIC weight: 2842 lbs. HP: 140 torque: 130 lbs/ft
Apex n1 catback exhaust AEM CAI
************************
Him: I believe a 1998 Hyundai Elantra (since i was told it's 130 HP) weight: 2458 lbs. OR 2668lbs. (probably the heavier one with more options) HP: 130 torque: 122 lbs/ft AUTOMATIC ALSO
Who will win??? I think I will easily. I plan on having as little fuel as possible, taking out spare and jack. I was also thinking about taking out passenger seat? Would it be worth it?
One more thing... should I bother even putting it in L or 2 gear and manual shifting if we go from a light?? I was thinking it may actually slow me down. What do you guys think??? Supposedly when he raced a 95 civic EX he only won by a car length.
If it's a gauranteed win I'll put $$$ on it
Thanks.

I raced my friend that has a brand new elentra, and i passed him in 3rd gear by a car length. We both are stick. This was about 6 months ago when I had no mods on my car.
He had a passenger in his car, so u gotta figure that was like an extra 160lbs. The Elantra has 140 hp, 10 more than ur anticipating. Is this guy auto or stick? That might be the deciding factor for him if he is stick, if not I think u should win but not by much.
Also see if this dude has any mods. Don's take out ur seats.... if u want to win easily go to the mods section and do the trottle plate adjustment, and free airbox mod. You will love the results making ur car sound better and drive faster.

I'm pretty sure I'll win anyway.
But you gotta READ THE WHOLE POST!! :) Like I said above, we're BOTH auto and I have a CAI and catback (so how could i do the airbox mod?). I obviously didn't list any mods under him becuase he has none. And people told me his car is 130 HP and they are probably right since his car is old. Like a 98 or so. cars.com says a 98 is 130HP and 122lbs/ft.
Anyone else???
