1842, DSM vs. S2000 Posted by DSMeclipseGS, Sep-04-02 12:13 PM
What's up guys
Me: 1998 GS A/T HRC stage 2 catback
Him: stock s2000 M/T
The kid sucks at driving. Heard he occasionally still stalls out at lights WHEN HE'S NOT RACING.
I think I would win. What do you guys think?

If he sucks at driving and you're running no less than 8 psi, then I believe you might take him. Driving skill makes or breaks a MT car.

The S2000 is fast. My parents have one and it's still bone stock. I took it to the track and ran it one night....my best time was 13.85@101.9mph. You'll have to be running 8-9psi to be able to take him....as long as he can't drive. If the kid knew what he was doing behind the wheel, he would jump you hard on launch and you wouldn't catch up :( I drive my parents all the time, and have raced a bunch of cars with it, they are definitly fast cars stock. I see the race going either way.....depends how bad of a driver this kid is.....

Thats odd that you say that. My buddy has an S2000 as well. Granted it is a fast top-end car I have never experienced low end in driving one. He has to rev the car up to 6-7K to get any kind of launch.
Side note: Check out the new SCC. They just did a test on the S2000. They didn't measure 0-60 cause the car has no torque. They had to measure 10-60. Kinda funny.

Well..I've seen Aric stay dead even with my other friends 95 Tsi AWD from a launch and then take him after 80. With a 6500RPM launch you can get low 5 second 0-60's. No bog..just a bit of spin and your off. The reason they tested the 10-60 instead of 0-60 was not because the car has no torque..it was the fact that you have to launch high to get the best times and it puts alot of stress on the drivetrain. You just have yo know how to drive and S to keep it in it's powerband and that car is fast as hell...

the s2000 still has 150lb-ft of torque, not bad for a 2.0L, plus the car is a six speed. I gets up into it's powerband very quickly. I don't think I would mind the lower torque if I could rev to 9000 rpms easily

I have heard that to see or feel results, you have to drive the shit out of the S2000. I guess rev high for a launch, and then shift at the max point possible.
