I was wondering what some of you more experiance draggers do to set up for a night at the track. I have ground controls sitting on Koni yellows. Should I raise the back end higher than the front. Set the Konis on stiff. what about tire pressure.

Any help is appreciated.

Yeah, I would raise the back a bit and set your rear shocks on the stiffest setting. Drop your tire pressure down to about 20psi, and if you are running street tires, stay out of the water box! And DO NOT do a big burnout! Just drop the clutch at about 4500rpm and burn them to the line....all you want to do is clean them off. Heating them too much will make traction issues worse. Take any extra weight out of the car(stereo, back seat, etc..), and bring some bags of ice with you. When you get to the track, pop your hood and put a bag of ice on your intake manifold/throttle body, and on your IC pipe that runs along the battery. Let the ice sit on the car for a good 30-45min, the longer the better. Trust me on the ice thing...it works. I know what I'm doing at the track, 115mph@11psi isn't just all a fluke ;) Hope this stuff helps!

Yup, Strauss has all the good suggestions :) set your fronts to as soft as possible and the rears to as stiff as possible.

Also, make sure you plan it so when you get to the track you are low on gas, each gallon is at least 5.5 lbs (if not 6.5 lbs).

Oh, the ice is a good idea if the track lets you do it, some tracks don't allow it. I'd call them and check on it first to see if they let you use ice in the staging lanes.

If they won't let you ice it in the staging lanes, ice it in the parking lot if it's close. Then have a couple buddies help push your car to and through the staging lanes. Start it right before you get to the front....done that a few times myself :)

Actually I think the weight of liquids is more 8lbs per gallon if I remember correctly. Depending on how many runs you plan on making that night I would say if your juts about on E when you get there find out how long they keep the pumps open and try to only go with a gallon at a time. Just make sure that if there aren;t any gas stations nearby you load up a 5 gallon can or something before hand so you can put enough in to make it home or at least to the nearest gas station.

It depends on the density of the fluid. Gasoline is less dense than water so the weight per gallon is less than 8 lbs per gallon.
