1686, is a 10.2 in the 1/8th good?
Posted by 98Talon, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
That was my best time my first time at the track. My car is a stock 98 talon 5-speed... nothing at all done to it. on 14's. it's the base model, manual windows, no sunroof or spoiler. anyway, that was my best time. I also ran a 10.0 but I redlighted by .02 seconds. The crazy thing was that my 10.0 was at 72mph. I need to get to a quarter track. Anyhoo, how are my times?

if you're running 10.0 with no mods, then

A. your car must weigh very little (you said it was a base 5 speed with no options)

B. you are launching like a mad man (what was your 60 fot time???)

C. you have a factory freak engine

My best 1/8th mile time was 9.995 sec, with a best ever 1/8 MPH of something like 70.4 mph

72MPH is just mad. I just broke 10 seconds in the 1/8th last week with a 9.987 and that was only 69MPH. Never even seen 70MPH yet. Notice I said..."yet".

my car is base, manual windows and locks, 5 speed, no rear windshield wiper, no hatch release, manual seats, 4 speaker sound system, I had about 10 lbs of stuff in the back of my car. My best friend has my precious time slip. I have a few other runs of mine though. How do I post a picture? I have the 10.2 run right here. By the way, I was running 2.4 60ft times. It was VERY hot outside and I never did get my car to hook well (on the stock 14's, haha).

I was just running 10.02 last night in the 1/8th, which was about 15.60 in the 1/4. I'd assume your time would be about 15.85-15.95 or so (rough guess)

a 50 shot should get you at least high 14's maybe mid 14's in the 1/4 (another rough guess)

I must be doing something wrong..... I have AEM Cam gears, AEM Cold Air Intake, 10.33mm Wires, NGK Plugs, AFX UDP, Cat back exhaust and a 60 shot of NOS. The fastest I ran with out Nos was like 10.73 and i got a 10.3 with nos.... so i must be doing something wong??? I do have a slipping clutch ... damn Centerforce Dual Friction...?

woah, time for a compression test. My times were in the middle of a 95 degree day also, I'm going to go one night and see if I can get into the 9's before I put on my intake. Also, what are your 60ft. times? you've GOT to launch that thing right. How are you shifting also?

I put on a short ram intake, man that thing sounds mean now.... and pulls harder too. I'm going to the track this weekend when I get my exhaust put on... more times to come. Oh, and the track was actually like 6 feet long from what I understand, and it was pretty level. The left lane is perfect, the right lane you roll back SLIGHTLY so it's a bit uphill. I think I was in left lane on my 10.0 run and the right on my 10.2

A 10.2 in the 1/8th is very good indeed!! My best run was a damn 10.70 with heavy 18's, an intake, GST Exhaust, KYB shocks, and Sprint Springs, also a very slipping clutch!! I have a new motor in now and will post new times shortly. Oh yea and a stripped interior....

I have a 96 RS with 150k mi, 5spd, blown struts, bald tires, and my clutch was slipping so bad on my first run I ran an 11.9@48mph. After letting it cool off and making 3 or 4 more runs, I ended up with a 10.4@67mph. As far as performance, I have a short ram and a *free* 4-2-1 header. Here is a link with some pics and my best and worst timeslips.
