I bought the car w/ an Alpine alarm previously installed, but the car came w/ keyless from the factory.

I just removed the alpine alarm completely.

I am wanting to hook back up the OEM keyless for now. I tried the factory keyless remote that came w/ the car, I think the battery was dead so I put a new battery in it.

So, what needs hooked back up? Any clues? Anyone on here do alarm installs?

I have found a lot of good info at the12volt.com.

They have a huge database of info there. I don't have the Keyless Entry so can't help there but chances are they have grounded or cut a wire when the Alpine was installed to disable the factory system. It could be as simple as reconnecting a wire or installing a fuse.

Thanks for the link, and the comments.. I know it has to be simple... provided the brain for the factory stuff is still in there... Which I dont know where to look, maby I will dig into the Electrical manual... Thanks again, I will try and make some calls to install shops and prester them and see what they do when they install alarms on 2gnt's... I'll post back info if I find anything useful out..

Hopefully the brain is still there. Im not exactly sure but i think it's on the drivers side in the lower dash area. I think you have to remove the lower panel of the dash to get to it. I'll look at the manual later tonight when I get home to see if i can find some concrete info for you.

I talked with an installer that said they do not disable the OEM systems, just piggyback off their wires... so that was kinda a bummer..

maby i will look under that side of the dash / behind glove box area and see if i can find the box, and maby they unplugged the harness if i am lucky... i dunno.. the door locks lock, and unlock, windows roll up and down... just the keypad doesnt work. Not the end of the world... but it'd sure be nice with winter coming up :-) any etra effort = the suk! when its freezing out.

Can anyone vertify that the 2nd gen's with the keyless option has the keyless brain box located behind the glovebox? That it was I was told, I opened the glovebox, and there is enough room that I couls see behind it without removing it, and all I found was a white harness with 8 pins installed just hanging around, eh.. like the unplugged the keyless brain and removed it?

Can anyone verify for me that has oem keyless as an option?

sorry i can't verify that since my car came with power nothing but if you really wanna add keyless entry and don't mind spending a couple bucks you can pick up a module for pretty cheap from ebay or something. if all you want is keyless entry it should be pretty cheap. you're really just buying a couple relays, transmitter, and receiver. nothing fancy like an alarm.


who did the un-install of the alpine alarm?

nm read that you did it... are you sure you didn't take out anything important? i'm assuming you know at least some wiring basics if you did it yourself

sounds like it was removed. A good guess was the factory keyless/alarm system was malfunctioning, and they put the alpine in. You can get an aftermarket keyless system for pretty cheap, and its a very simple install on these cars, prob 4-5 wires at most.

Do you think I could just get a keyless module from someone in the for sale section for cheap, plug it in, and give that a go?

I guess then I would have to re-program my keypad to work with the different module? I wouldn't think that would be 'too' bad.

Anyone know how to reprogram the remotes?

Just trying to stay stock, and not cram anything else under the dash.
