9082, AutoPC installed! Posted by CrashedMax, May-17-04 05:04 AM
This weekend I dove in and installed the autopc I talked about getting in an earlier post. The wiring harness had a different connector so I had to splice a few wires, no big deal. The hardest part was getting my old deck off. I swear whoever put that in must have had the entire dash off. There was screws holding it on under some plastic pieces covering the side of the console so I had to guestimate where the screws where and drill a hold through the plastic to be able to unscrew them. Took me about 1.5 hours to get my old deck out...lol, and about 40 minutes to put the Clarion AutoPC in. It has a seperate processor unit that must be mouted (I just did under under the dash.
So far I think it's pretty dope. I'm trying to win an ebay auction for the GPS for it, and I'm trying to find a place to get the CarPort software. The carport seems like it'll be really cool. It interfaces with the car and can scan codes and do alot more. Details on it can be found at: http://www.invehicleproducts.com/carPort.asp
All in all it's a pretty cool little toy since I got it for free. You can tell it's a little outdated though. I believe it was released in '99 and retailed for around $1399

Yeah I've seen those Joyrides', they're sweet, but cost way too much for me. I was content w/my Pioneer DEH-6400h, but I got this for free so I couldn't pass it up. I've seen those GPS packages for around $100 but don't really want to invest too much into this thing since it's an old unit. I'm going to be lurking on ebay until I can get the GPS & Carport for $100 total.
