8997, Cheap Alarms?
Posted by eclipse982nrRST, May-11-04 02:43 PM
Hey guys I need an alarm but am not going to spend $300 for a viper. I just need a decent alarm that will do the job for me, lol. I also need one that I can install myself. I am good at wiring shit up and know what all the wire colors and what not are so it shouldnt be hard for me. I was thinking of something along these lines for an alarm. Let me know what you think or know of any cheap but decent alarms out there!

umm... the point of an alarm is security right? To be honest, I wouldnt trust either of those links on a car. One cut and its disarmed. I have a Viper, the 2 way thing and I hate the thing, but it really is the man. If you dont want to spend the money for an alarm, dont get one until you have the money to get a good one, though is dosnt HAVE TO be Viper, it can be anything else.

You get what you pay for. I managed to do the following to my car with a cheap alarm and not have it go off:

- Rotate tires
- Fill up at gas station
- With windows down, disengage parking break and roll car slowly. I tried to take it a bit further and try to hop in the window and get in the driver's seat but it finally managed to go off.

When i was a kid i had a cheap alarm in my blazer and it had the starter kill feature. Well then the fuckin alarm brain died and I couldn't start my truck to drive it to somewhere to take out the alarm.

Me too! lol. But like ^^^^ said, you get what you paid for. I know I have one of them crappy brand alarm. But as long as someone opens the door while it's armed, it goes off. So, I guess it's doing something right? :P Besides, I like the remote start
