8987, Weird DIN cable on factory Tape/CD player
Posted by thedawg, May-10-04 12:18 PM
I have an OEM head unit that looks like this:

Below it is an OEM CD player with two DIN cables on the back. One is male and plugs into the head unit.

The other is a mystery Female, and goes into the dash.

Mystery cable pinout (Round DIN cable):
o.o.o.o
o.o.o.o
o.o.o.o
.....o....

Is this for a factory CD changer option or something? Why would the cable be there & plugged in if the car has no changer? Where would the changer normally be located? Thanks.

I take it this is your Tsi your talking about right? It's most likey the CD changer cable like you said. Most Eclipse/Talons came with the wire already in place. should go along the pass side back into the hatch area.

Yes thats the factory Cd changer, look on the rear passenger side is there a hole in the plastic? the factory cd changer goes in that little hump space in the rear, I have it and the bracket if your looking for it.

the plug is round and the two bottom corners that you tried to draw are like -| . |- correct?
