8548, OLD Fatmat, not used, still good?
Posted by Bearkat, Mar-23-04 03:34 AM
My friend is selling his 100 sq. ft. of fatmat to me for $50. Its still new in the box, never used. But, its been in his warm/cold garage for about a year and a half. Do you think its still good. Or do you think thats its now in a permanent roll form and can't really be "adhesive" anymore? Otherwise this would be an awsome deal. I just don't want to take apart my car and find out I can't use this stuff and be ripped off $50. So what would you guys do in my situation?

EDIT: Posted in the wrong forum.

I moved this to Audio because it sounded like you were talking about some sort of vibration dampening material (dyna-mat, etc). Hopefully guessed right.

I had left over Fatmat in my garage (extreme temps) and used some of it about six months later and it was fine. Couldn't you just check? :shrug

Fatmat uses a gum type adhesive on a foil material. It really doesn't go bad. You need to heat it up with a heat gun when you install it and it will go in smooth with no problems. Think about it, that shit sits in warehouses for awhile before you buy it in a store too.
