where did everyone run their 12v memory wire when installing a cd player??? battery or what???

if you are talking about the power wire that has to have a constant 12v source all the time, i ran it into the fusde box by the drivers side. There was a wire coming from it that was a constant 12v source and i just tapped into it. And for the ignition wire, i just used the cigarette lighter. hope this helps

Don't DSM stock stereos have constant/memory power wire already? I am pretty sure they do because I can eject the CD from my OEM CD player even if the key is out. So there is a memory wire already behind the stereo.

I can also do the same with my Sony stereo

yeah, but my ghetto car keeps blowing the stereo fuse so i just hardwired it to a constant 12v source and a ignition source.

what wire, (color) that was constant 12v did you tap into?
I just don't know which is constant power.

Dude if you do not have a stock stereo or for some reason your wiring is all jacked up, then yeah just run a 16/18 guage thru the firewall to the battery or look in a wiring diagram to find a hot wire under the dash.

Otherwise the memory wire is almost always the yellow one among the stereo wire harness. Just bust out a voltmeter or even a test light and start looking for a hot wire with the key out. You should not have to worry about piggy backing on something and blowing a fuse as a Stereo is not going to suck anything major off of the memory wire.

there's a big fat white wire by the ignition that's constant +12V. that's where my alarm an other stuff is tapped... there SHOULD be one on your stock stereo harness (one constant and one ignition controlled) but if someone else messed with your wiring before it may be hard to find.

If you are talking cd player as in the the actual headunit why not plug it into the harness. But if you are talking about a CD Changer still.. why not just splice it into the harness...lol, its the yellow wire.

I'm still a noob in audio electronics, but I do my homework and I have been reading up a great deal on all this shit.. Taking the dash apart and screwing around with shit is always a learning experience also. }(
