787, pricing on custom-made stealth box?
Posted by Tanqueray201, Nov-23-01 09:16 AM
I went to a shop to get a quote on having a fiberglass enclosure built...something like a stealthbox, but made to hold a 12" IDQ sub. I was told that I'd be charged their general labor rate of $85/hr, and that it would take two full days.

Let's see...$85 x 2 days x 8 hours/day = way more f*@!^&# money than I was planning to spend!!!!!!!!

This this a typical quote for fiberglass work? I was expecting $200-$300, so it really blew me away!

I just noticed it on eBay. hmm...i would have been interested before, but I already have a 12" IDQ sub on the way from sounddomain.com.

I might check a couple more shops this week...if I can't find anything reasonable, I might go for Stan's box and return the IDQ...but I did have my heart set on a 12"

Unfortunately, I'm in NJ, so I can't take koolade up on his offer :(

Hell Blake I think I'll take you up on that offer when the weather turns nicer and I have a steady job. I want to lighten up the rear end and get rid of the monster box. How much volume do you think is back in that corner?

I didn't fill mine w/water yet to see, but there's at least a cube on each side... there's alot of flexability with that setup...

That's about all I am getting out of my box now to each sub... 1.3 I think... I'll have to take a trip down bring money and beer, what's your favorite beer?
