I did a search, no results.

I'm an idiot... wait my GIRLFREIND IS AN IDOT... she left my key in the ON position and my car died... it was out COLD. I jump her and I look at my stock headunit and it looks back at me with a blank orange stare... its asking me for a GODDAMN CODE. Yeah, so I call satan,

"Get the serial number off the back and we will hook you up with the code"

Not so satan like for once. So I need to get the puppy out, and since I know nothing about stereos except how to put speakers in... I need help. HOW DO YOU GET THAT DAMN THING OUT....

Or better yet, is there a way to get the # some way else...

OR EVEN BETTER YET.... is there a default code?!

PLEASE HELP ME!

-Chip

Good call on having Satan give you the number for free. Make sure to talk to the same person because I have heard of them charging ppl like 75 dollars for that shit.
There is no default code, they all have a diff code.
Its really easy to get to though.
The plastic trim that goes around the HVAC and stereo can just be pulled off. Then there are 4 screws 1 in each corner that keeps the double din in place. Take those out and the whole assembly can be pulled straight out. YOu might have to remove the shifter knob which just screws off. There should be enough harness stuffed in there to allow you to pull it out enough to read the serial #. If not then you can pop off the interior side panel. There are a couple of push screws holding it in place. Remove those and it will kinda slide forward and fall off. Then you can kinda see under the stereo area. Once you get this far you will be able to figure it out.
Hit me up if you cant!

You dont need to take out the headunit. My friend had the same problem, dealership just told him they needed his vin number and fax over a copy of his drivers license and the title to the car to show he actually owns the car. That was all he had to do and they sent him the activation number to his headunit..

How bout spottin me some points for saving you some work.. jp

Well then your friend got lucky... not all dealers (satan) will do you that favor. In fact most will try and charge you a service fee to restore your security locked radio. Its a feature to deter theft. I think he got lucky just having a dealer that didnt try and charge him for giving up the code.

Oh and begging desperatly for points... :nono

DON"T TAKE OUT THE WHOLE HU!!!! This happened to me at least twice a month because i'm an idiot and kept losing my code...eventually I tatooed it to my face, but all you gotta do is pull off the cover on the HVAC controls---you can read the serial number off from there (its on the top of the HU):thumbsup

2 options, one, you can send them the vin number, most likely they will help you out, or two, you can buy my stock hu and i will give you the code to mine. :-)

when i had my car in the bodyshop, they had me go to satan to get my code looked up by vin, i actually told them to look it up by vin cuz they asked me to take it out. ha ha. i told them to look it up via vin number so i could go. they actually did it.

it takes 5 minutes tops to pull out the headunit. why would you bother with any other method?
