7647, How to I get into behind the head unit? Posted by EclipseTenzoR, Nov-15-03 05:25 PM
I was trying to get to the back of the head unit because I had read that you can plug the antenna that is on the back of the hatch into it.. I need to do this because my power antenna is broken and i tore it out. I removed that one side panel.. but I had horrible access to it, it was all cramped.. Now I did'nt want to go diggin around to much takin stuff out that wasnt necessary, so I come here to ask you guys. How do I get into it.. And which wire is the antenna to the hatch? Do I need a converter? Where Can I get it?
Thanks In Advance :)

you need to take the shift knob off, take the bezel around the hvac off, take out two screws on the sides of the whole center console(all the way towards the back seats), the out the cupholder/ashtray...there is at least one screw under them, take out the screws that were behind the hvac bezel...and you should be able to take out the center console. good luck:thumbsup hit me up on aim if you need specifics(blk 2gnt)

meh, i didnt have to go through all that trouble, just remove the passenger side inner kick panel (the one that attatches to the center console) and you have pretty easy access....
EDIT: why is your antenna unplugged from the HU anyways? there are actually 2 connections. one, just about 7 inches away from the actual antenna module, which connects up to the main wire that runs to the HU, and the other is at the HU where the plug goes into the HU..if you need to replace your antenna, just make the connection there in the rear of the car..its on the drivers side trunk panel, right by the shock tower.

Its not the antenna on the side panel I'm talking about. I thought there was another connection from an antenna that is integrated into the rear hatch. I had heard that there is an another wire behind the dash to plug that antenna in. Nevermind tho I will be getting a new power antenna soon.
