12" Rockford Fosgate Punches? I can get them for $63.51 a piece. I can also get 2 12" Kenwood Excel subs, an 800W Kenwood Amp and a box for $188.35...just your opinions.

the punches are horrible, IMO. if you can get the whole shebang for 188 using kenwood gear, i would go for that. the kenwoods are a tad bit better than the punches, but you get the amp and box as well, and thats damn good for the money.

I'll second that... for that price the Kenwoods would be the way to go for sure if you didn't like the subs or something sell thenm for a different pair but, everything for under $200 I would go for it.

I'm with both ^^^^^^ of them. The Rockford equiptment that sells for less than (say) $400 is crap. Personally, I think putting Rockford in DSM's is a sin. Yes they slam sometimes hard with the right amount of power, but they are not an overall clean sounding name. Take for example a local Eclipse (by FujitsuTen :bowdown) rep showed me right in front of my face how to blow a Rockford sub that can handle 500 watts with an amp pushing only 100.
If its the loud that your going for, then yes, the equiptment above will be fine, but again, Rockford in my opinion should not be put in DSM's. :puke
Go for something that looks nice. Dont forget that you get what you pay for...... It's ultimatly up to you. :shrug

i have 2 12'' hx-2's 500 watt RMS and a RF 851s (850 watt RMS) amp 2 channel.

This set up hits hard, makes my ears pop}( I got the 2 subs for 210 off ebay and my amp for 300, RF makes quality stuff.





I have my amp bridged now at a 4 ohm load, crisp clear sounds that hits relaly hard

the xlcs and hx-2s are totally different than the punches.

i used to work at best buy and the punches came back ALL the time because people werent satisfied with them. ive never heard a good setup with them...in fact i would persued people into buying the pioneer immps because they wre almost as cheap and sounded 10x better.

BTW, i used to have a wall w/ 4 xlcs. :D

also, if you can find any of the old school rockford DVCs, those were the shit back in the day. i think nearly everyone interested in serious SPL used those in at least some install around 8 years ago or so. they are still considered one of the "classic" subs, and sound great today.

Like I said it's my OPINION. Seeing as someone else ^^^ agrees with me, maybe there really is something wrong with Rockford.... :puke

Also those rockford amps of the past were great under-rated power houses. I know alot of guys still useing them.

I don't have any real beef against Rockford its just that it seems that they have really slacked off in the past few years.

i have a older model rockford 360.2w amp and it peaks at like 550 or 500w..it's a nice little amp. It powers my 10" kicker solobaric. For a small system it hits hard.

Rockford used to be the shit in the early 90's....after they stopped making the Power DVC series they went down hill
