ok i bought 2 12" audiobahns today. question is, the sub has 4 holes, 2 for neg and 2 for pos. do i just wire my + speaker wire to one of hte + ones and then follow suit with the - or is there something different i must do here?

its really up to you on how your gonna wire it how many ohms can your amp handle???

i think its dual 4 ohms or something. dunno no sleep just got the subs. i just want them to work :shrug . the wire from my enclosure has a positive and negative, 2 diff wires, one for each sub. i cant just put them in the spots and leave the other two? or am i going to have to buy more speaker wire?


edit :i just checked them and its single 4ohm voice coil.

your gonna need more wiring since im guessing you had a svc and now you have a dvc

if you have a 2 channel amp:

im assuming it will only stand up to a 2ohm minimum resistance (from the subs) per channel. right now you have 2 4ohm voice coils (VCs) to work with (per sub)....so...run some speaker wire like this: from the + terminal of one VC to the + terminal of the other on the other side of the sub. do the same for the negative terminals. now youve connected the VCs in parallel. then run the speaker wire from the + terminal at either one of the VCs to the + on the box connector. do the same for the negative (from one of the VCs to the box connector). so now all the +s and -s are "touching", going (in order) from one VC to the other to the box connector. now you have a total resistance of 2ohms at the box connecter, and you can wire that like you normally would to one channel of the amp. do the same for the other sub.

wheeeeew, that really didnt make any sense did it, lol! basically, you would wire it up like any single VC sub, you just add "jumpers" to the other coil, making sure to follow the "+" and "-" paths through to the other VC.

i have single VC 4ohms. k forget about the 2 subs, im kinda getting the picture but still blurry. how would i go about just hooking up one sub then i can take it from there. i just dont want to blow anything. i have a + and a - wire coming from my amp and my sub has 4 terminals right next to each other, 2 reading - and 2 reading +, like --++. how do i wire that up?

are the - and + on one prong just sorta teed?

cause if not then you have a dual voice coil

but again you said you had a single voice coil

hows about you just take a picture of the bottom of the sub and we go from there

ill try to get one im working 6 straight 12hr shifts didnt have sleep yesterday so im just kinda in a blahhh state of mind heh . i wont have time to take a pic till sat. and i need my subs by then before i go to party in another city. this is only if i have film in my polaroid too. ill try or try to find a pic online somewhere and post it up. they are just audiobahn 12" subs, anyone else have them? they have the logo with the stripe by audiobahn on the front with chrome flames on the sub. the back of it has 4 connectors that u screw in and out with an allen wrench (after u slide wire under them). they are square and look like this

What is the make and model number of your amp? If each speaker is a single 4ohm VC then you amp will determine how you can hook them up.

Are you talking about running them in Parallel? He needs to know what his amp is able to push. When you run two 4ohm subs in parallel and then bridge the amp. The amp is going to "see" a 1ohm load (2 ohms bridged). Alot of amps will blow up running it like that. Make sure you have an amp that is 1ohm stable.

ok thanks a lot everyone i got them hooked up now. just ran a + to + and - to -. no big deal. but needless to say its a lil louder than my old system and my plastic screw that holds the string to my hatch went bye bye and my rearview mirror fell off. sux but its all good. its LOUD :bowdown .
