735, I'm interested to know... Posted by Bumpin, Nov-18-01 06:05 AM
Is there ANYONE louder than me?
Hahahahah!
Nah, but seriously guys, I traded out my 6.5" baffles that came stock in the back of my '98 for the Infinity-model 6x9 baffles. I went and bought some Clarion 6x9s. Everything is juiced by my Kenwood amp, and it is FUCKING LOUD!
Kenwood KDC-716S Head unit (Rating out of five - *****) Kenwood 250 watt 4-channel amp (****) Kenwood 5 1/4" components up front, utilizing stock tweeter locations for maximum sound imaging and quality (*****) Clarion SRR9963 6x9s (They fit like a GLOVE in the new baffles!)(*****)
I want to go to a DBDrag and do an SQ competition when I get my sub. I've never heard a system of mids and highs louder than mine.
/End rant /End brag

dont know how i stack up against the big boys, but i know mine is loud.. i do know there are some big time systems in here, so it would be stupid of me to claim the loudest. i do love my system though.

you have a 4ch 800watt amp? and its powering your speakers? i hope you have the setting on the first setting, either that or you must have a surplus of speakers.

Hehee I think he was confused cus most amps are rated by rms power, not peak. My friend has three JL 12W3, with $500 component speakers (6.5", 4", 3" I think), and it sounds so clean. I want the clarity plus bass that he has...but I never will.

as far as actual drivers are concerned....
sit in my car and try and say that....
as far as using any speakers in general... jza would wax ya, minihorns have like a 105 db sensitivity.
we use a set of ID Horns for our DJ setup at the house and they are plenty loud.
I think just about any of you guys would kill me SPL :D

I am pretty damn loud too, it hurts my ears sometimes and I am 70% deaf at talking range so I really don't know how loud it really is!

Tell ya what, if your car is loud, great. If you are thinking about competing in SPL, you want it loud, if you want to compete is SQ, forget about the rear speakers and work on your front stage. Loud does not equal good.

Can't a car be both loud and have good sq. I mean like have very clear mids and highs that you can hear even with the subs putting out a lot of bass. I think I'm more into sq than spl because with too much bass, you don't even hear anything but a bunch of vibrations...
Reason I ask is because my friend with the 3 12w3's and component speakers up front (no rear speakers), sounds really clean and has excellent sound quality, but its still loud. If he turns up the bass, then it becomes really really loud. Can't you have both good sq and spl then depending on how you tune your system?

yeah, of course you can, like I said, come take a seat:) I just don't have any desire to put up huge spl #'s. she'll do low 140s, and for daily driving, it's damn loud(IMO). SQ is always key, it's imaging & staging where all the real tuning comes in.
also, brynden made an excellent point, adding more speakers in all kinds of locations, will only hurt your system. keep them few, localized, and in front. the rear fill will take care of itself, and once you have the clarity, just add power...
