7307, Desperately need wiring help. Posted by JwadeClipse, Oct-08-03 06:23 AM
Ok I had the stock cd player for a while, it is the one with the cassete player below and the cd player on the bottom. Well I took both of them out. I got the pioneer 3500(I am a pioneer fanboy)and the harness is completely different from the one that went into the back of the stock cd player. There was a wider white harness going to the stock one, and the pioneer headunit has a more squared black one. Normally I wouldn't need help, but the wiring is completely different. The colors don't match up, so I have no idea what wires connect to which.
Can someone help? And if you have a pic or diagram I would be grateful.

Can someone give me a color guide for the stock wiring? all the wires on the new harness are labeled.

Dude, just head on down to circuit city, best buy or some similar store and get the harness adapter. It just plugs right into the factory harness and has all the wire labeled and color matched to make it really easy to connect to the pioneer harness. That way you don't have to splice/cut the factory harness in case you ever sell the car and want to switch back.

1) The stock harness is cut, wires are stripped.
2) I live like an hour away from Best Buy and Circuit City.

I used the color guide here:

Only there is no "blue w/black stripe" wire.
And I put my car on accessories and started it with almost all wired together and the power cord plugged in, and the headunit still wasnt getting any power. And yes I had the black wire grounded.

Red is always on 12V, BLUE is 12v switched power...
If you dont know.. buy a volt meter and test the wires in the stock harness... its pretty easy to figure out which wire goes to what.

Thanks but I got it like 30 minutes ago. The person who owned the car before me messed up the wiring when he put the stock stereo back in. It's all good now. Ty all.

Just remember to fuse the 12V if it isn't already. You dont want to short and cause a fire. My power wire for my front mount camera got stuck on a piece of metal and shorted... burned a line across my the bottom of my carpet, lol.
