725, put subs in new box... Posted by EvMan2345, Nov-18-01 02:31 AM
i put my subs in a new box and it keeps tripping the protect on the amp. I'm clueless.... The dimensions of the box are what the subs need. any ideas?

as soon as you turn it on does it go into protect? or is it when the bass hits around its peak?

sounds like you need to check your wiring for your amp.. maybe somethings shorting out or grounding where it shouldnt....

i almost garrentee that 2 wires are touching where they are not supposed to try taking the subs out of the box and trying them or try hooking up just 1 subs and see if it goes into protection if it doesnt try the other maybe a loose connection?

i agree, i think you need to check your ground first. if that dont work, check the rest of the wiring. it turns off 3 secs after you start it, then i dont think it has anything to do with the subs.

Almost make sure your power and ground wires are correct. Stupid me put the power into the ground, and ground into the power last time, and that blew the fuse everytime...

my new boxes are 2 individual boxes. I took them out of my HUGE 2 sub box and put them into the individuals. Hook them up, amp goes to protect. Put them back in old box, works fine.... like i said the box is about the same size that the manufacturer recommends...

why would you want to have two individual boxes? does it save room from the one box?

Yea- it saves room from the big one- its just for winter because i need the trunk room until march/april.
