I'm looking for an alarm system for my eclipse... I'm looking for one with a pager etc... I have a pritty good budget for this because this is a very important item on the list for my project.

theres some cheap ones on ebay made by crimestopper that include remote start, paging, lcd on the remote, etc..etc... and they work very well. the only problem ive found w/ cheaper alarms are flimsy remotes (drop your keys and its cracked) and a lack of upgradable options w/ out mixing and matching...plus a lack of customer service should you need it, although that may depend on the distributor. ive dealt w/ www.cmttrading.com before on some of thier alarms and they've always been very helpful and fast.

I agree with the Viper responder. I currently have the Viper 2 way, the only things that I dont like about it is that the remote has the small screen thing on with a plastic that will scratch. I beat the hell out of it from time to time, but still stays in good condition. The other thing I CANT STAND is that the remote start feature on it requires you (if you have a manuel) 1. keep foot on brake 2. pull e brake 3. let foot off brake 4. press 2 buttons on the remote while the car is on 5. after shutting the car off and getting out, you cannot open the door or the car will not auto start. It's a pain in the ass! Other than that, I like the whole display on the remote.

I also have the responder, and am a DEI installer. Its a great system. DEI has new product coming out, and the new ones have a built in turbo timer, if you ever go that route. Also, they have newer looking remotes, and bit smaller. You cant go wrong with DEI.

Do you have any idea why Clifford doesn't make a 2 way paging system with their Intelliguard or Avantguard line? I really like the Intelliguard series, especially with the anti-carjacking and coded valet. With the new supreme court ruling that you're responsible if someone steals your car because you left the keys in the car, it's reassuring to know that if someone just jumps in my car, it will turn itself off down the block. I was debating between the Viper 790xv or the Intelliguard 7000 and went with the Intelliguard because it has more features and is made by Clifford. I also like how you can directly wire it up to honk both the stock horn and Clifford siren, as well as built-in turbo timer. The new Viper 791xv and Clifford Matrix RSX3.5 have the built-in turbo timer (if only I had waited). I guess in summary, I would say go with Clifford Intelliguard or the Matrix RSX3.5 since I believe the matrix uses more clifford sensors/parts.

Not sure on that one. I should know, seeing as I just went to a DEI trannng seminar :o But to clairfy the anti carjacking, it wont shut the car off while its in use, if your car gets jacked, when the theif turns it off, it activates the starter kill, and cannot be started again. DEI now has a sweet GPS tracking system available though. Its badass. You can track your car to anywhere in the country, lock/unlock your car, and lots of other features. I think its like 10 bucks a month or something, with differnt "plans" you can purchase.

Actually, the Clifford anti-carjacking does shut the car off while it's in use. I've tested it out a few times =). Basically, once the door closes and you start driving (rpm sensing) you have 20 seconds to enter a code, or else the siren starts going off, and the parking lights flash. Then as this is going on, once you slow down to stop or make a turn, it shuts the car off completely. Then, the only way to get the siren to stop and the car to start again is to have the key in the "on" position and enter your secret valet code. It's coded so you can have thousands of combinations for your valet code. I really like this feature because now I don't worry about leaving the keys in the car and running back in the house real quick etc.

Also, not sure if Viper has this, but the Intelliguard has rpm-sensing door locks, so mine is set not to lock the door until I drive up to 2500 rpms. This way, I can start the car first, and then let passengers in without the car automatically locking the doors once I start it.

ahhh yeah thats right. I dont install the Clifford line, and their features are a bit different. I believe that unit hooks up the the car's VSS, so when it sees you at a stop, it can kill the car. Pretty cool stuff. Man, i really like that gps tacking though!

Ya GPS tracking is nice (some companies have had it for years but they weren't DEI and I think you had to call for info). Does the DEI system let you check online where your car is, and how accurate does it get? It'd be cool to track down someone that stole your car. Oh wait, I just remembered something I was learning in school about GPS. The signals can get blocked by structures pretty easily, so I guess if someone took your car and had it in a large warehouse, it may or may not be located by GPS. Any idea what Lo-Jack uses? I know police helicopters have to track the Lo-Jack signal, and I've seen stories of tons of cars being found in shipping containers at the harbor docks because one car had Lo-Jack.

But overall, all this features we are talking about are nice toys. The chances of needing to use any of this (anti-carjacking/tracking) is very slim. But it's always nice to have...
