This was in when I bought my car. What are your opinions of the enclosure? I know it's not quite fiberglass but I'm lazy and everything fits so nice and sounds decent without actually spending time on it. I don't really wanna rip it out. I was gonna sell my 2 12" JL's but they sound so nice I dunno now.

damn man, i dunno that looks ghetto to me, there is no "enclosure". It's just a deck of particle board and a frame, the cubic foot is probably whack as fuck and it probably rattles huh? I would start over w/that shit.

thats MDF. in the second pic theres a piece of partical board screwed in for some reason. :wary perhaps its ome kind of structural support?

i think it actually looks pretty good...for being a ghetto install. if you were to lay some fiberglass in the bottom of the well to make it a totally sealed enclosure it would be finished. it looks as if they just sealed the board the tire well with some liquid nails or somthing.

you mentioned that it soudned good, right? so why not keep it?

I'd ditch it too..That is particle board, aka, floor underlayment. True MDF is darker in color, and is smoother. Particle board works, but MDF is the best choice. YOu could keep it, but you def need to seal off the box from the floor to make true inclosures.

hmm looks like some stupid person had to much time and no money, scrap it and fiberglass another and u can use the top piece of the wood if u wish but i would use better wood as i did.

i promise thats MDF (or HDF, doubt it though) in the second picture. MDF can have many hues, it tends to be lighter in the south (where i live). the attached piece is some sort of fiberboard, however. its tough to tell whats "going on" in that pic though.

in the end, it doesnt matter what the construction is like. if it sounds good to the original poster, i say keep it. if you dont like it scrap it, or improve upon it by fiberglassing the bottom to provide a completely rigid and air-tight construction.

Sums it up well. I know how it is being low on funds like everyone else I think it looks a little ghetto but, if it works the stick with that till you can afford better.

i agree with him about the install if you like it keep it

and that is mdf particle board would have cracked a long time ago unless there was something supporting the middle
