6765, Install run-through for Alpine HU Posted by BlackKnight, Jul-28-03 10:30 AM
I am going to be getting a CDA-9813 Headunit in the near future, it says it requires a direct connection to the battery and so on....
Could anyone give me a run-through of the complete installation or atleast what materials I need and how to connect it to the battery?
Sidenote: My amp for my subs is already connected to the battery, if that matters...

Uhm...I think the yellow wire (constant) on the head unit is 12 gauge. Get a matching wire size and solder it to the end of the existing alpine wire....then run it through a grommet in your firewall then put an o-ring terminal on the end and attatch it to your battery....make sure the fuse is still there when you do (the one that comes on the Head unit)....not so hard

Do you already have a HU in your car? If so, all of the wiring hookups should be right there.

Yeah but Alpine uses a 12 gauge wire for their constant where most of the wiring in your car is 16 gauge. They suggest you wire it directly up to the batter whether or not you have a harness right there.

My recommendation, go buy a 10 awg kit from Circuit City. For the $35, it will have everything you need to hook it up to the battery.
Make sure you fuse the yellow wire 6-8" from the battery, otherwise you may need to purchase a little more than some wire in the future.
Good luck to ya!
