6677, miswired crossover and shorten something* Posted by master826, Jul-17-03 06:31 PM
there r six bolts on the crossover +- +- +- first for amp, then speaker, then the tweeter. i think i miss place them with +- -+ +- or other incorrect ways. now both of my wires thatz connectin to my amp shows positive. which will not allow to turn on the speaker. anyone haf any clue how to fix it?

hmmm....im not sure exactly what you said, but from what i can understand you incorrectly hooked up the wires on your passive crossover and now you arent getting any sound out of the speakers. from the diagrams you posted, it looks like you merely reversed the polarity (the + and - wires were switched) on the speaker output part of the crossover. if this is the case, it would have caused zero problems (other than poor sound performence...but thats a completely different thread, lol). the only mistake you can make on a passive crossover would be hooking up the output of the amplifyer to a terminal that is supposed to be used for outputting sound to the speaker(s). even then, im not sure what type of damage would occur.
it sounds to me like youve got a problem further upstream, with either the amplifier, headunit, etc.

maybe since you reversed the wires it's perfectly out of phase with the other speaker so the sound waves are cancelling each other out and you don't hear anything.
lol or maybe not
yea it's kinda hard to mess up something with a crossover... you sure you got the wires hooked up to the right parts? (speaker, tweeter, source). what happens exactly when you try to run stuff? didja try just temporarily bypassing the crossover to check if you're even getting a signal?
i don't understand why you mean by both wires connecting to your amp showing positive...
