I had a lot of engine-whine in my stereo a few weeks ago... No problem though, I just got my RCA's the hell away from my 4awg power wire, and that seemed to do the trick.

However, it did not get rid of the 'pop' or 'thud' i get in my subs whenver I change sources at the head unit (am, fm, cd, etc...), or turn the volume all the way down, or when i turn the head unit off. I know this is just a symptom of a crumby install, but I don't know what causes it or what to do to fix it. does anyone even know what i'm talking about?

it's kinda a strange thing, but i've heard it in other people's crumby installs, too. it's like a power or static buildup. i say build-up because it seems to charge up as time goes by, and the longer i go before i touch my head unit again, the louder the pop. i.e., when i'm changing through stations, the first pop is loudest, and the more i flip through them, (or sources), the quieter the pop gets until it goes away. goes away, until about 5 min later, that is. x(

someone told me i might need some kind of inline capacitor or filter, or something, but i have no clue. one crumby thing that might be causing it, is that my remote wire comes from the head to one amp, then a small wire goes between the 2 amps to get them both to turn on. could this be causing it? someone please help! TY
