Posted by EvMan2345, Jul-04-03 09:44 PM
i just bought 3 kicker s10L5 2 ohm DVC. I was wondering if i could use a JBL 1200.1 to power them- can it power all 3? or should i sell one and just use 2? how would i wire all 3 to power them if its possible- (im clueless when talking about ohms and stuff)-thanks

Hooking up 3 subs with 450 continuous to a 1200 watt amp would be underpowerng them a little, but just a little is ok, a lot is not. If you do hook you the 3 drivers, make sure that you do not play them loud with your hatch open, they WILL blow sooner or later. I dont care what anyone else says, I've seen it happen. It's kinda funny, but it sucks! Thereticlly, adding an additional driver gains 3 to 6 DB's... but also make sure that you use a one chambered box, so they all fire at the same time.

He's out of his mind. Solobaric subs need to be isolated in their own enclosure using a specific volume (I don't know it off hand)

I wouldn't worry so much about how much wattage you have with that JBL amp as I would it's resistance tolerance. 3 subs @ 2ohm per coil? Well, that's 4 ohms if you wire them series/parallel. Make sure you wire them right.

Im going to have to agree with ^^^^, if your using solo's than you want a box with three seperate chambers, I belive its .66 cf per sub (sealed). If you bridge the amp down all 3 subs will be hitting at the same time anyways, using a single sealed enclosure for 3 woofers wont matter. I am currently using a JBL BP1200.1 and its an awesome amp, especially for the price. You can find a subwoofer wiring diagram at www.jbl.com. If your subs are DVC then you need to series wire the the 2nd vc on each sub, and the parallel wire all three subs together. Check out the diagram at JBL's site, it explains everything.
