6364, how to put power door locks on DEI system?
Posted by Eclipse97, Jun-12-03 12:25 PM
On my Eclipse RS, I have got a Viper 500+ classic alarm system that the previous owner installed. I just upgraded to power locks, and I'm wondering how would I go about making the power locks work with the alarm? So, that I could lock or unlock with remote.

I've searched on net but couldn't find any instructions manual.

so I'm turning to you guyz for help. anyone?

thanks.

I have an old DEI that has the pinouts printed on it. Your dosent? I think all DEI alarms use the same wireing harness so you could find the standard pinouts and connect the proper pins to the power door lock wires.

You will need 2, SPDT 12V relays. Might as well get some DEI relays at a stereo/alarm shop somewhere. I'm assuming you had 2 lock actuators installed in the doors? If so, here is how to wire:
Pin #'s on the underside of the relay, by each pin. Wire both realays the same way.

Lock relay:

Pin# 85- connect to the thin green wire from DEI system, should be in
2 pin white plug, into the side of the DEI module. If that 2
pin plug isnt there, you can get one at a shop that sells DEI product. This green wire is a negative pulsed wire, upon lock.
Pin# 86- connect this to constant 12 volts, fused
Pin# 87- connect this to constant 12 volts, fused
Pin# 87A- connect this to ground
Pin# 30- this is the output to the door lock actuator in each door. Connect this to one of the actuator's wires. If its a DEI actuator, it will be either green or blue. Connect it to green for now. Do the same for the passenger side actuator, and connect its green wire here also. This relay will lock both door actuators.

Unlock relay:

Pin#85- connect this to the thin blue wire from the DEI 2 pin harness
Pin# 86- constant 12 volts, fused
Pin# 87- constant 12 volts, fused
Pin# 87A- connect to ground
Pin# 30- connect to the remaining door actuator wire, the blue one. Connect both blue wires from each actuator here also.

That really should be it. Use good crimp connectors to make your connections to the relays, and dont forget to fuse your 12 volt connections with a 15 amp fuse. Any other q's, let me know(i'm a DEI installer :) )

when you added the locks i'm assuming you added switches since you didn't hook it up to the alarm at first? don't you need to verify the type of switches before wiring up the locks with the relays? like it makes a difference where the leads to the to actuators rest at when none of the switches are being pressed. i kinda had a simliar problem with my aftermarket power windows when i added some relays to control them by remote with my alarm. i thought the switches had the leads not connected to anything at rest when they actually had both leads connected to ground... had to rewire all my relays an stuff.

all done.. thanks guyz.. oooh feels good not having to open the door from passenger side everytime (since the driver's side key hole is frozen and stuck for goood.)
