6357, Help! What did I do? Posted by thegame, Jun-12-03 05:30 AM
I messed something up but not sure what. I think it had something to do with the car being on. But, I was in a hurry and didnt think to turn my car off. Hooked the speaker wire up to the amp. Hooked the remote wire up, hooked the power wire up, then I went to hook the ground wire up and it sparked I guess you can say. Checked the fuse and it was still fine. Made sure my wires were hooked up correct. Turned the radio on and my amp/subs arent working. Neither the power or protect light come on. So what do I do now? Help!

which fuse did you check? Make sure you check the one in the negine bay too because i did the same thing and the big one blew (the 60amp one) and it took me a week to figure it out. Try that and if that fuse is still fine and the fuses in the amp are good, chances are you blew your amp. Good luck bro

Yeah sounds like you blew a fuse somewhere. Double check the fuses on the amp. The power line to the amp if you have an inline fuse. Also most radios have a fuse on the backside, check that if you are using the remote-turn on lead from the radio itself. The the engine bay fuses as well as the fuses on the driver side dash.

are you sure you fried the amp? I installed my system in a hurry and I forgot to ground the amp..grounded the capacitator..but not the amp..turned car on..loud spark.. my fuse blew..the one that i attached from the battery to a fuse to my amp.. my amp didn't blow.. i even tried to start the car numerous times and stuff..

If you have an inline fuse at the battery that should deffinitely blow before the amp. Even if it looks good it can still have a tiny hairline crack. Try a new fuse before you start assuming the worst.

you wired the amp direct to the batt without an in-line fuse?? :nono blowing your amp isn't really that easy, try changing the fuse on the amp, that should blow way before the amp does. shoot.. check all the fuse relating to the stereo. Mainly the one under the hood in the fuse box.
