6249, where is my brain? Posted by etx, May-28-03 12:11 PM
no, i mean the alarm brain. I can't find it. I got this car about 6 months ago, it had an alarm but i didnt get the remote for it. I'm sure its an aftermarket alarm because it unlocks the doors when i turn the car off. Any ideas where to look? I tried folowing the ignition wires from the ignition into the rats nest of wires and didnt see a single tap. x(

Typically speaking, the brain to an alarm is located under the steering column, but some people put it behind the center console.
The door lock wires are located behind the glovebox. Remove the glovebox and see if you can see where the door lock wires were tapped into.
Power for an alarm is typically picked up at the ignition harness or at the battery. Check those places for connections.
Good luck to ya!

i tapped my door locks at the kick panel, but im a 99 so maybe its different. Most likely it wont be in the engine bay since its way to hot, Check the little empty pocket under the dash to the left of the steering colum. its the spot behind that "fake" speaker grill built into the dash. Thats always a good place to hide it.

check behind the power mirror controls. i dunno bout space if you've got power mirrors but i don't so they used that space in there to hide stuff. there's kinda a lot of space too... all that's back there is the vent to the driver's door.
