I just got a new amp (a kicker x720) 280 watts 2 channel. I just ran brand new rca cables. I have two ten inch kicker comp tens. I have a kenwood receiver with cd player. Every time i change the station or change tracks i get a loud thud that hits one time. When i have the bass real loud the amp shuts off too. Cant be an amp problem because i just bought it last week. I guess I have to take it to a professional to figure it out.

Well im not too sure about the thud, except that i don't recommend kicker. lol no offense. But the amp shutting off is usually due to it overheating. This may be from placement, don't put it in a tight area where it might get hot, or invest in cooling fans, i had this problem before.

My guess the thud is a bad ground behind your head unit or check the ground on your amp make sure it has a GOOD,TIGHT connection.by the way where is your ground and did you sand the paint down to metal?

I fixed the amp shutting off problem...it was easy as adjusting some knobs.......but as for the ground.....I have it in the same place i used to have my other amp grounded...it is attached to the bolt that holds the rear seat back on to the frame...my radio also makes a small thud when the amp is not running...i think it might be the radio...oh well it isnt TOO annoying

Well i think it is my radio because when I tap the face plate the speakers make a thud noise. I am getting a new radio this week.
