ok i want to set up some like custom security shit on my car ..
my alarm had sidemarkers and i cut them .. when my alarm would go off the side blinkers would blink .. so now i have a power / ground i can do something else with ..
heres the challenge .. i was thinking about how you could set up some sort of like rader signal something to that power/ground which would set off like a horn in my room? one time my system got robbed because i didnt hear the alarm .. i know this sounds stupid and i probably will get flamed but i was wondering if someone could give me any help on a way to do this? .. i was also considering just running a power/neg wire to my house w/ a car horn and just have a plug to plug/unplug it from the car .. i dunno .. just ideas .. thanks

there are several car alarms avialible that use an FM band to page the remote and work within a 5-750 foot radius, 1000 if youre lucky. this would be much simpler and would achieve what you are looking for. ive seen them for sale from about 130 (search on ebay) to around 400 bucks. if you decide to persue this rout and have more questions, post them in the audio section and youll get plenty of help, xtremeRS is really good at this stuff. ;)

i already did so much shit to my car .. i moved the wires to open the hatch and hood .. i took out the door locks and rewired the drivers side door (which was too a door popper .. you'll see wha i mean if you play w/ it) so it works w/ the outside door handle and opens when the windows put all the way down .. lock/unlock my car w/ my alarm .. so if someone breaks the window they can't unlock the doors or open them and get in .. can't pop the hatch or the hood .. and i wanna make this horn thing go off in my room so i can jump out with two burners .. i dare someone to try to touch my car .. WORD!

yea, they already have those...i have a pager for my car. you can get them most anywhere for around 50 for the cheapest...i love mine

yeah im a heavy sleeper tho so i need like some police siren to wake me up .. i just wanna jump out and buck someone .. so bad :)

you could do what I did. I got the CompuSTAR alram system, the remote is the pager all in 1. pretty kewl. Just gotta get used to the sound it makes. first couple of weeks I had the thing I was running to my cell phone whenever that thing went off. lol..

He does have a point with the siren idea though..
I have problems waking up to my phone on full volume, but if it were a different noise...loud, and distincly for my car...that shit would wake me up. Hmmmm... not a bad idea at all.

well i am going to figure out how to do this :) i want it to sound like world war 3 when my car alarm goes off .. when i do i will post how to do it so we can get our cars safe!

yeah i got what your saying. even with a remote you can't wake up if its like 3 in the morning-too bad i can't help.

ok thats a good idea :) .. those doorbells run on 6v and the car is 12v of course so what sort of resister would you need to bring it down?

all i have to say is make sure you have plenty of batteries with you and fresh in the remotes.

that is a 50% voltage reduction so you would need a resistor equal to the resistance of the entire door bell circuit.

I don't see why you couldn't use it like it is. I mean, they have LED low battery indicators on the switch. If you mount the switch where you can see the LED then all you have to do is switch the battery when it gets low. One more thing about that - the ringer only uses batteries when the button is pressed so it'll probably last a long long time.

Also, as far as wiring into the switch, you could use a relay to "ring the bell". When your alarm goes off, it sends power to this sidemarker circuit. You could use that circuit to operate the relay, and wire the doorbell ringer into the relay so that when the relay is switched(alarm goes off) the button is "pressed". The good thing about seperating the ringer from the alarm with a relay is that you wouldn't have to worry about any differences in voltage/amperage between the two systems(alarm and ringer).

I say just wire up one of those "air raid" sirens to your car alarm. Those things are LOUD AS HELL. If your car is within a block away, you will hear it haha. If you cant hear that in your house when your alarm goes off, then i think your SOL hehe..I have DEI's new remote start/alarm combo unit, that pages you when there is a problem. It has a diagram of a car on the transmitter, and it will show you exactly what part of the car is setting off the alarm, eg. doors, shock sensor, hood, trunk, ect. It also tells me when the car is remote started, alarm is on or off, doors locked or unlocked, all up to a 1/4 mile range from the car to the transmitter. Its an awsome piece. Normal retail is anywhere from 500-600 bucks installed. Not exactly cheap. Just put on a really loud siren, and even put in a few of those pain generator sirens in the car's interior, so no thief will tolerate being in the car. Most thieves are stupid, but if they hang around a car that is making that much noise, then that is just plain determination hehe.. You can also find some companies that make add on alarm paging units. I know Alpine used to make them..they work on most any alarm system..the only thing is, those pagers are really not that loud. So if you need an explosion from a neuclear bomb to wake you up at night, then again, you are SOL :)

Another idea: Get a set of those cool little two way walkie talkies. Wire one up to the cig lighter's power, so it doenst run off of batteries, so it runs of the car battery. That wont drain it enough to get the battery dead anyway. Then wire up one of those pain generator sirens by the walkie in the car. Then keep the other walkie in your room or where ever, and have the volume up all the way. YOu can also hard wire the power of that to a voltage adapter you can plug into the wall, like from Radio shack. The hard wire that to the walkie's battery terminals. Then when the alarm goes off, it will blare that siren's sound to the next walkie, and that should be lound enough to wake you up. By hardwiring them up, you wont have to worry about changing batteries all the time.
