I was thinking- is it possible to shatter or blow off your rear window with too much bass? about how many watts would be needed to do that- that would be kinda cool to see (of course not in my car)

What'd it cost Dino to replace his back window? I think it was $1500 bux so it would be an expensive laugh. :-) Umm, I think it could be possible under very extreme conditions, but it is not likely that anyone would shatter that thick back glass.

yes it can be done, but you'd have to replace all the sidewindows and windsheild first with 1" plexi, and add about 1" of fiberglass to all the metal panels. then add 160db and she'll pop.

they actually have a competition for breaking plexiglass. its pretty sweet. a coule years ago, i had a friend that was working for Cerwin Vega, and they competed there. they ran a system with like 15mmats amps along with 15 strokers (18in) and won in their division. they broke plexiglass that was 3/4 inches thick! thats bulletproof! there was a cool ass picture of the team pressed up on the doors of the car, to keep them from opening up/loosing pressure, in car audio and security mag.

I used to db drag race in my grand prix, and its really not that hard to brake glass. If you had all your subs pointing at the glass, and at least 160 db, then it will prob break, not because of pressure, but of vibration on the glass. In my grand prix, i had 2 15" alum eclipse subs with about 2200 watts, hitting 151 db, and my back glass was literaly moving back and forth about half and inch! I'm sure it was close to breaking, but never did.

the difference between a GP, and an eclipse, is the eclipse rear window is a little thicker, and has a concave shape which will deflect in many different directions.

I know a guy that has a caprice and he is pushing 3000 watts and 158 db's and I saw him blow his rear window seal off.

back when i had 2 JL 12w3's w/ a phoenix gold amp in my klipz the hatch glass would flex in and out about 1/2 inch. it's not that hard.

I'm looking for 160+ with my setup (whenever i get the $$$ to finish it) I'll let ya know if i pop any windows :-)

ive never decibel tested, but if chris' window shook with 2 12W3's then i must have a strong ass rear window. i got 3 JL 12W6 D6's with 900 watts vertical firing in the trunk and it didnt budge.
