Well, last night I broke down and made the stereo purchase. Here is what I got. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions.

Alpine CDA-7995 Head Unit

Alpine V12 Series MRD-500 Mono Amplifier

Alpine 12" Type R Subwoofer (4 ohm + 4 ohm)

Subzone 12" .88 cubic ft Sealed Enclosure

Rockford Fosgate 1 Farad Capacitor

Rockford Fosgate Capacitor Distribution Block

Rockford Fosgate Dual Amp Wiring Kit (4 gauge power lead)

Monster Cable 6 channel RCAs (5m)
(from what I've heard/read the RCAs in the Rockford kit are not very good)

McMaster Carr Vibration Dampening Material
(My dad's company does daily business with McMaster Carr and he can get this cheaper than what is on their web site plus free shipping. From what I've read on this board, it seems to be pretty comparable to the Dynamat.)

I already have a Pioneer 4-channel Amplifier that I plan on using for the mids/highs for the time being. The Head unit I selected does not have a built in amp. This is also the reason for the dual amp wiring kit. Also, for right now I am keeping the Pioneer Speakers that I have in the doors and rear sets because cost was getting a tad higher than what I expected. I may upgrade them in the future.

I should have most of my order by early next week. Let me know what you guys think.

oooooooohhhhhhhhhh that alpine head unit is sweet. i wish i had one.

I got the head unit brand new for $350 bucks. I thought that was pretty decent considering many places try to sell it for $500 bucks *cough - Crutchfield cough*. I only use Crutchfield for their information as sometimes they have more pictures and information than the manufacturers website.

This place www.discountsjungle.com has pretty good prices on equipment.

The only thing is now I am trying to decide what sound deadening material to use but now I am leaning more towards dynamat. I found a place that sells the trunk kit for $74 but I need to measure and make sure it is enough material.

Dude spare yourself the extra cost and use the McMaster Carr stuff from your first post. Stuff works just as good if not better then dynamat. sure it may not have the bling bling effect like the dynamat extreme with its silvery/reflective outter layer. But most of this stuff will be behind panels/under rug etc and be out of view anyhow.

I contemplated the decision on whether or not to buy dynamat or the Mcmaster Carr equipment. I've considered all of them (that I knew of) fatmat, b-quiet, and dynamat. I've also read the previous posts on 2gnt about all the different types. It seems to be a bag of mixed reviews.

The way I look at it, I will only be doing this once so I broke down and bought the dynamat. I'll probably kick myself but I figured after all the money I am putting into the system another 100 won't matter. I was worried that the Mcmaster Carr stuff won't contour to the shape of the trunk which defeats the whole purpose of dampening vibrations.

I also read your post after I placed the order. I placed the order around 12:00pm (EST) and read your message at 7:30 pm (EST). Doh!

Here is what I bought if anyone is curious along with trunk measurements:

Dynamat Trunk Kit (3 pieces of original, 2 pieces of extreme)
Dynamat Door Kit (4 pieces of Extreme Dynamat)

I got both these kits for about $115 bucks total.

Both Kits will be used in the trunk. I took measurements of our trunk and it is about 26 sq ft (rounded up). Here is how I got those measurements:

Floor of Trunk (4ft wide by 2.5 ft high) ~ 10 sq ft
Drivers Side of Trunk (2ft long x 1.5ft high) ~ 3 sq ft
Passengers side of Trunk (2ft long x 1.5ft high) ~ 3 sq ft
Back of Trunk (4 ft wide by 1.5 ft high) ~ 6
Hatch (under window) (4 ft wide by 1 ft high) ~ 4 sq ft

About 26 sq ft. When I use the two kits, I will have two sheets of dynamat extreme left but I am sure I will find a place to put the rest.
