5586, Best Python alarm?
Posted by MajinVejitaXV, Mar-14-03 04:05 AM
Alright, the place in my area that I'm gonna have install my sunroof also does alarms, and I'm gonna have them put one in since I wanna protect my DSM.

They install Python alarms, but I'm kinda clueless as to what model is best/worst, etc. If I want a great alarm, no worries about power locks or windows (since I don't have them yet, and might not get them aftermarket) or remote ignition (MTX, and don't wanna rig it), what model should I go with?

Thanks,
Corey

I install Python at my shop, and i recomend the 1000 model. It has everything you will need for security. They do make a 650 model, but it has an onboard shock sensor, that i dont really like, esp if you want the brain hidden some place good. Most Python alarms are pretty much the same, except for minor differnces like the shock sensor. Expect to pay between 250-300 for the 1000 model.

Yeah, called a local place. They install the 1000 model for $249.95. Question though: they said it comes with keyless entry, but my car doesn't have power locks on it. Will that still work for mine?

Thanks for the help,
Corey

P.S. - Left ya points, thanks again

yes, it will still work, they just wont hook it up when they install it. this is good though, because if you decide to upgrade to power locks in the future youll just have to splice together a couple wires to use the remote door locking feature.

edit.... if you were asking wether or not the keyless entrey would work on manual locks, no, it wont. i wasnt sure if thats what you meant.

I have the 650 and the onboard shock sensor SUCKS. It doesn't pick up anything. I am installing an outboard shock sensor this week. Bye bye warranty LOL.

have 'em install locks at the same time. i couldn't stand not having keyless entry so i had them put that in w/ my viper500. might run up the labor though. it takes some time to put in the actuators and run the wires.

I thought it was pointless to get a nice alarm and have to unlock the doors. I got the power lock kit too. Worth it any way u look at it. So much better. my DEI power lock kit was $75 per door. Installed.

hehe same here. seemed kinda steep though. now that i think about it i prolly could just put in the actuators and ran the wires and saved a bunch. all they'd hafta do is setup the relay. i could even do that now though. power lock kits are pretty cheap. like $30-40 i think.

Two favors to ask:

Where can I buy the DEI Power Lock install (I can do it myself) and also, where is the listing on DEI's site for the 1000 model? Might be because I'm tired, but I'm having no luck finding it.

Thanks,
Corey
