I think my alternator might be going now. I have had a 2 amp system running now for 3 years now, plus alot of other elec. components. What alternator do you guys run? Especially if you are turbo and have a system. TIA

I have a Duralast Gold from Autozone, and havent had any probs with it, using 3 amps and turbo, and a UDP. It has a lifetime warrenty with it too. A true, high amp alternator will be very expensive. Usually around 500-600 bucks.

That alternator is rated for 90amps. It seems we have about the same mods. I wonder if that is enough? I saw another amp from a different vendor for $199, rated at 135amp but online and not sure if it has a lifetime warranty...:wary. Any imput would help. TIA

Its been enough for me. Although my bass head days have since gone, and now into performance,so i dont really crank up the system too much anymore, but when i do, the stock 90 amp alt works fine. Unless your amps draw a lot of current, and you constantly have the volume turned up, the stock alt should be fine. If you dont have one, i *highly* recomend using an Optima Yellow top battery. They rock.

its fairly inexpensive and bolts in as DIRECT replacment for the factory unit. while it does not show a large difference in output at idle, it really, REALLY shines at cruising speeds. given that, if you had a high amperege deep-cycle battery such as an optima or stiger, i think the combination would allow for massive current draws with no damage or noticable effects. its a good investment IMO. ;)

I have an Optima red top. And my bass days are over aswell but I still like to crank some tunes and I have other elec. components running. To me they don't seem to draw much current but alot of little stuff must add up...:wary.
That link was the 135amp I was refering to before. What kind of warranty does it come with? $199 seems like a good price. But I still have too see what I really need...

unless im mistaken, i belive at the top of the page it says it comes with a lifetime warentee (cant spell).

i talked to the people there for a while on the phone, and they seemed quite knowledgable and nice. shipping was excellent by the way, i recieved the alternator in 2 days from texas to charleston, south carolina.
