5042, Best setup for a stereo system?
Posted by MajinVejitaXV, Jan-12-03 01:45 PM
Got a 97 Talon and one of the first things I wanna do is a complete overhaul of the sound system, and I've made up my mind to get a full complement of Pioneer Premier speakers and such. Here's my question...

How many subs and amps should I get? My friend says one of each, and some others have told me two. This is my first time making a system from scratch, so excuse me in case this is a dumbass question. The subs are 1200 watts maximum and the amps are 300 watts with 4 channels.

I'm a musician, so I like my music loud. I'm mostly into rock/alternative/metal etc., in case that factors into it. Suggestions?

Thanks,
Corey

Start with a single 12" to see how you like it. If you want more bass add another 12" sometime down the road. Sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you would like to do. From your taste in music I would suggest getting a sealed box for your subs. They won't be very "booming" or loud but the bass line will be better defined.
